Even today as I look at the dates and names of my fuzz babies , I get an ache in my heart. Here is an article about how pets help with depression. Personally , since my babies have gone , I have dealt with more depression . We haven't gotten any more cats yet because of different circumstances , but I long for that day when we can have fuzz babies again!

Here is a medical credit card that can be used for your pet . As with all credit situations , if you are not able to make the payments , then don't even consider this . If you are able to make the payments , this is a great alternative. There is a search section at the top right side of the page to find out if your vet uses this program.

Hi cmeyers , i really know how you feel right now. My cat is very sick and slowly fading away from us. Please try this web site that I found that has different ideas to help low income people with paying for their much loved animals to get the medical care that they need. They have some links to organizations that might be just what you are looking for. I hope so ! soulight

PS I am going to check them out too for my cat. She is 15 and has been through so much with us that she deserves the best , just like your dog does.

THIS PAGE IS IN MEMORY OF GINGER , THE CAT I TALKED ABOUT ABOVE. WE PUT HER TO SLEEP TODAY . WE JUST COULDN'T LET HER SUFFER ANYMORE. THE VET SAID THAT SHE HELD ON FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS FOR MY DAUGHTER AND I . IT WAS TIME TO TELL HER THAT IT WAS O.K. TO LEAVE US. 6-25-07

HERE ARE PAGES WITH HELP PAYING FOR PET CARE. SOME SOURCES MAY BE LISTED ON MORE THAN ONE PAGE , BUT TRY AS MANY AS YOU CAN ! OUR PETS DESERVE IT AFTER ALL THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE THAT THEY GIVE US.

Established in 1999, HELP-A-PET is a nonprofit organization with a single purpose: to provide financial assistance nationwide for the medical care of pets whose owners are unable to afford the expense.

Who We Help
Physically and mentally challenged individuals, senior citizens, and children of the working poor. For such people, pets provide a therapeutic vital aid to daily living, unconditional emotional attachment, and protection. Unfortunately, it is often those who need their pets most who face the fiercest financial obstacles to providing medical treatment for their beloved companions. Applicants must provide proof of income eligibility. We ask each owner to contribute as much as they can towards the cost in order to spread our assistance to as many pets as possible, indicates the owner's commitment to their pet's well-being, and lets you know your donation is being used as efficiently and sensibly as possible

HELP - A - PET DOT ORG.

When there is a true need, and funds allow, UAF helps those who can not afford veterinary care.  We work with some local vets who contact us when a low-income family is in need of financial support for spay/neuter or medical emergencies.

The links below are to additional organizations that can help Animal Guardians who cannot afford veterinary care.  Click on the organizations name for more information about the help they offer.

The site says for companion animals , but some links are for other pets too.

R.A.I.N.

obtained this list from another source and has no experience with any of the groups.

Here is a list of organizations that help owners that cannot afford vet care. Most of them handle serious medical conditions and injury. Some focus on low income, elderly and handicapped owners. A couple of them are for rescue organizations and homeless pets.

Rescuing Animals In Need

Another wonderful organization . I agree so much that disabled and hurting people benefit from the healing aspects of owning a pet.

Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS)

is a volunteer-based organization that provides for the comprehensive needs of companion animals for low-income persons with HIV/AIDS and other disabling illnesses.

PAWS provides comprehensive pet-related services to support approximately 500 clients who are maintaining the guardianship and the love of close to 600 companion animals. Beginning in January 2002, PAWS has expanded its services. In addition to assisting low-income San Francisco residents living with AIDS or disabling HIV, we will also provide our services to people with other disabling illnesses.

We do not cover young animals, amphibians or reptiles. We do not help clients get new pets but rather assist them in maintaining the pets they already have.

The PetWork is a national network of pet resources, pet-related web sites, and information about pets, for the people who love them.

The PetWork features links to animal shelters, humane societies, rescue groups, feral cat programs, pet-assisted therapy programs, hospices, lost and found pet listings, low-cost and free spay/neuter programs, financial aid programs for pet care, pet loss support services, veterinarians, animal hospitals, and other pet-related resources, products, and services. The PetWork also includes listings for bird, farm animal, and wildlife organizations. New listings are added daily.

Welcome to The Pet Fund website. T

he Pet Fund is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit association that provides financial assistance to owners of domestic animals who need veterinary care. Often animals are put down or suffer needlessly because their owners cannot afford expensive surgery or medical treatment. Companion animal owners must often make the difficult decision to put an animal down or neglect medical needs because of the costs involved. The purpose of the Pet Fund is to work towards a future where decisions about companion animal medical care need never be made on the basis of cost.

Dogs get cancer , just like humans .

Try this site if your furbaby has cancer.

The number of dogs being diagnosed with cancer is devastating. This web site is dedicated to all pets and their owners who are being or have been affected by this terrible disease. We give our hearts to these creatures knowing that in 10-12 years they will be gone from our lives. Having them taken from us in as little as 2 is unacceptable.

Canine Cancer Awareness is truly a from-the-heart cause that has been taken up by those who have been faced with cancer in their own precious "fur-baby". Until you, yourself are faced with this almost always fatal disease in our pets, you are unaware how prevalent it is and how many others there are who are facing, or have faced it. We have found ourselves embarking on a life-long journey, committed to helping in any way we can.

Our hope is that someday no one will be faced with this dreaded diagnosis again. We have planted the seed. All we need to do now is nurture it and watch it grow.

in response to FeBee...   Hey I saw your post and was wondering if you ever found someone to help? I live about 30-45 mins south of the bridge and I have a 2 year old yorkie that seems to have something seriously wrong with her. She's been whining and crying all day and I don't know what to do. I've been looking into vets willing to work with me on payments or some sort of help like the care credit card but I have hit a wall with every attempt. I would appriciate any information you could provide me to seek help for her.

in response to soulight...   I have a 2 yr. old German Shepard that has a short urethra. She had this problem since she was a pup. I'm scared it's going to affect her kidneys. I haven't been able to take to the vet in a long time because we only live on my SSA check. Do you know if this program goes for Upper Michigan? The picture you see is her. Plus I have two Beagles. Beagles health are good.

This is a commercial site , but it is for elderly , disabled and handicapped pets. They have products that might help your pet be more comfortable . They also have a section where you can talk to other people who are caring for thier pets , so there is a support system if you need one ( I sure could have used it when some of my pets where ailing !) There are some precious pictures on this site too !

Your tender heart has made many little furry babies happy ! God bless you for caring for the animals. They give us so much love that they deserve the best we can give them It makes me cry to hear of animals ( and people for that matter ) that are treated so badly . You have helped some creatures  that probably didn't have a chance at life if it hadn't been for you.

Thank you Yes it hurts all the time.  Now I have a big picture herin my living room. Thank you for saying her name was pretty.  I have found dogs in trash cans, just running free, and I have ended up with 4 dogs and 1 cat and 2 guinnapigs and 1 rabbit.  I was getting food for the pigs and the feed store had rabbits that have just been dropped off so I gave 1 a home forchristmas.

That is a precious story , sassy2 . They say poodles are one of the smartest dogs . They have the intellect of a 4 yr. old . What a sweet name she had too.

Even this many months later , if I see something that reminds me of Ginger , I will cry . Animals are so much a part of us. I am sorry for your loss .
